Christophe Sloan

Owner and Director
christophe@11newel.com

Christophe has been living in the Williamsburg/Greenpoint area for over 15 years, and founded 11 Newel Gallery as a means of providing a space to host contemporary art shows, focusing mostly on local emerging and mid-career artists, and availing a creative project space for artists to showcase immersive works, video installations and performance art.

Christophe has a bachelor’s degree in Computer Science from Cornell University and has been working in the Financial Services industry for 15 years, specialising in human-computer interaction design and market surveillance technology, pioneering the application of Machine Learning and Natural Language Processing in the detection of market abuse. Christophe brings the technological knowledge to facilitate the cross section of technology and art, especially innovation in Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning and NFTs.

Christophe has a photography practice and is often seen walking around Greenpoint with his vintage cameras, shooting film in 35mm and medium size formats. Christophe is currently spearheading a project to develop Polaroid and Fuji square backs for Hasselblad Model 500 series cameras, bringing back the joy of instant film to the medium format classic.
